CANCELLATION POLICY: Because of the short season, reservations are necessary to ensure you get the dates you want.

Disclaimer of Liability: Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service reserves the right to make changes to itineraries if regulations change in a fishery, or for the safety of their clients. We are always aware of safety, however, outdoor activities in Alaska are not risk-free. At times ocean trips will be canceled due to weather conditions. We make every effort to ensure our client’s safety. However, we do not assume responsibility for injury to clients, personal belongings, or for time and expense incurred. Upon making the deposit to Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service the depositor agrees to be bound by this cancellation policy.

We have worked hard at the Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service to craft a fair and balanced cancellation and refund policy. Alaska’s adventure destinations are not run by large chain hotels, most are run by small family-owned businesses that love sharing the beautiful state and all it has to offer. There are very few outside staff members and most, like Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service are run and operated by generations of the same family. Like all locally run businesses, based on tourism and adventure in Alaska, our season is incredibly short and capacity is limited so cancellations can be devastating – especially last-minute cancellations that could be difficult to fill.

We thoroughly reviewed our policy in the wake of the massive Kenai Peninsula fires in 2019 and due to the global pandemic of 2020 and ongoing pandemic-related concerns in 2021 & 2022. We continue to monitor global conditions throughout the world as it relates to travel, travel security, travel airline schedules, and other global events. Cancellations have taken place in past years due to testing changes, unattractive new airline routing schedules, illness, and travel restrictions. We hope that you’ll consider purchasing travel insurance and have provided some links for you to consider.

We understand unplanned circumstances arise and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you.

Travel Insurance:

We believe that your upcoming trip is a significant investment and therefore highly recommend travel insurance. This can often cover cancellations due to medical problems, airline schedules, airline strikes, natural disasters, volcanic eruptions, and more. Many travel insurance policies are now covering Covid-19 related cancellations as well.

Please consider purchasing travel insurance from AIG Travel Guard or AIG Sportsman’s Travel Insurance or AAA Travel Insurance

Natural Disasters:

If your trip is canceled due to a natural disaster Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service assumes no liability and will do our best to reschedule your trip for you. Your deposit and any payments made can be credited towards a future trip within 24 months of your originally scheduled trip.

Other Than Natural Disasters:

If you choose to cancel your trip outside of 90 days you will receive a full refund minus a 10% booking fee of the total booking

If you choose to cancel your trip between 90 and 30 days you will receive a full refund minus a 25% booking fee of the total booking

Cancellations made less than 30 days, or failure to show, will not be refunded.

You are welcome to transfer your reservation to another party.

Itinerary Changes:

We want you to have the best vacation possible. There may be occasions where volcanic eruptions, extreme weather, in-season regulations changes due to fish counts, and other factors may warrant the need to cancel or change your trip. Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service assumes no liability but will work with you in these cases to reschedule that trip if possible, or to offer you a comparable trip.

Halibut Trips – the weather throughout Alaska & Cook Inlet can be quite unpredictable. Our halibut fishing trips usually fill up completely in June, July, and August. If your halibut trip is entirely canceled due to weather we will do our best to reschedule your trip based on availability. In the event, this is not possible, or you are not interested in a different excursion, you will be refunded for the price of the halibut trip.

Long Range Halibut Trips: Several of our long-range trophy halibut trips and those that target multi-species may be canceled due to long-range weather but still allow for a great day of more local halibut fishing. In the case where the long-range trip is not possible but the local halibut fishing trip is you are committed to fishing that local trip and will be refunded the difference between the two trips. We like to take those big trips as well but safety is the most important concern. We work extremely hard to make sure every trip happens but not at the compromise of safety.

Alaska Boat Rental & Guide Service gladly accepts all major credit cards. Cash or check is acceptable as well.

A deposit of 50% is required within 10 days of booking your reservation. The balance is required 45 days before your trip.
